Great study so far, Pastir Mike! I’m really enjoying this. Is there a spiritual/symbolic reason that Hod chose Mary to bear Jesus when she was so young and Elizabeth when she was so old? I mean, aside from underscoring the fact that these births were miracles.
Hey Betty! I think the primary thing in view is the miracle work of God…giving a baby to Elizabeth while old and barren…and Mary while young and a virgin. However, I think the fact that John was coming through Levi and Jesus through Judah is also significant. And the fact that both Elizabeth and Mary were common folk and not very notable in society.
